My Journey:
From Personal Growth to Helping Others

"Where there is darkness, let me bring light;

where there is sadness, joy." ~ St. Francis Assisi

In my search for ways to navigate life’s challenges, I immersed myself in mindfulness, positive psychology, expressive writing, and effective teaching from an early age. Through years of study and practice, I discovered a path to resilience, creativity, and courage—one that not only transformed my own life but also deepened my calling to support others in their struggles. Helping alleviate suffering is more than just my work; it is my prayer and purpose.

I grew up in a contemplative tradition that nurtured my love for inner exploration, fostering a deep connection with the universal consciousness within us all. This lifelong journey has led me to seek greater expression of the inner movement of life, particularly through writing—especially poetry and "Writing for the Self," a modality I have been developing and sharing in group settings for many years.

For over two decades, I have worked as a professional engineer in conservation and environmental stewardship, collaborating with a school board to ensure energy efficiency and the safe operation of school buildings. This work has been more than a career—it has taught me invaluable lessons in collaboration, communication, and mentoring.

A decade ago, I faced my own challenges in relationships, health, and finances. Using the very tools I now teach, I approached these difficulties as opportunities to ground myself in life as it is. I came to understand, in a deeply felt way, that acknowledging suffering in its many forms is the first step toward liberation and fulfillment.

Over the years, I have deepened my study and practice, seeking to understand the workings of the mind and refine my ability to cultivate equanimity, resilience, and psychological flexibility. My learning has been rooted in mindfulness, inspired by the teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Pema Chödrön, and Tara Brach, as well as the third wave of cognitive therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dynamic Emotional Integration (DEI). Later, I expanded my practice to include Breathwork and Qi Gong, integrating these powerful tools into my approach to navigating life’s challenges with psychological flexibility and emotional intelligence.

For many years, I have facilitated mindfulness, breathwork, and Qi Gong, offering workshops and courses on therapeutic journaling and mindfulness practices through school boards, municipalities, local organizations, and online platforms.

While my study, training, and certifications provide a strong foundation, it is my deep, ongoing practice—applying these lessons in my life—that gives me the confidence and competence to serve others with authenticity and care.
